I had almost forgotten about this one. I usually write a post on every release I make, but this had slipped off my mind. Whatever the case, I’ll make my say now.
This is the best EP for I made my foray to the trance genre as it is iconic and superb piece. It’s not long like the previous EP, Traversing Spacious Terrain. I think Skidoo is an energetic and playful EP. It was fast to make but not a loss on quality. This EP is one accelerative and enthralling ride of just two tracks. The synth leads are the stand out as well as the pads I put to make it a dramatic piece. It’s almost anthem like. Many layers of instruments but never drowns out any other instrument.
It’s danceable and these two songs just have this adventurous tone with bold feelings striving in them. It’s also serious and thematic at the ending of both songs. They’re complimentary to each other when in regarding their endings. I also love the sound effect transitions. The transitions play a vital role and make it seamless and connected in consistency. The beats are good and continuous. They just fit. They are the rhythmic layer to uplift the rest of the song.
I think for the EP is that it’s just one of those efforts that go on smoothly like a breeze. They stick with you, though and never something disposable. Nothing gets forgotten. Everything goes with the flow. Everything is like one ascent from one sound to the other.
Overall, I did pretty good on this one. It’s re-playable and you can imagine what kind of mental imagery you can sync in with as some kind of imaginary music video for the mind. That’s up to the listener, though.
I think that sums up Skidoo for me. It’s my most memorable and is very much danceable as I never really did that in the previous releases. So for me, that’s a splendid achievement in merging some cool leads and beats with dramatic ambient pads and sound effects. That’s the best type of fusion. Playful, energetic, and pure thematic wonder… those were my aims and they are now realized.
So that’s about it for Skidoo.
I’ll see you soon in the next one.
